Fourth NWG meeting in Bangladesh

This Saturday, the fourth NWG meeting in Bangladesh took place as a virtual event. Fourteen participants with backgrounds that include civil society, academia, police, military, Supreme Court, and border guards.


The discussions focused on the various consequences that COVID-19 has for security actors. Examples of these include the rise of cybercrime, but also the importance of good intelligence, management in refugee camps, and the wellbeing of border guard and police officers. This includes the necessity for sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE). The meeting also came up with several recommendations and steps that need to be taken, including the need for maintaining PPE/medicine stocks, crisis training, operational coordination, national strategies, and data collection.
