Today marked the first national working group meeting in India. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it took place online over the course of two sessions, bringing together four experts. The experts combined backgrounds from the armed forces with those active in think tanks and research.
The first session focused specifically on the impact of COVID-19 on India's comprehensive national power. Along with other discussions, the need to solve governance challenges came forward. This includes addressing the socio-economic impact of COVID-19, but also credibility and the use of data in policy. The second session focused on COVID-19's impact on internal security, with specific attention to the status of police modernisation in India, and challenges encountered in improving policing.
