The plurality and diversity of Asia provides opportunities as well as challenges when considering the issue of parliamentary accountability and security sector governance. This workshop enabled the presentation of particular security issues and concepts and their implications for parliamentary work in democratic transition states. It provided the opportunity for an exchange of views and experiences of security policies and the role of parliaments in different ASEAN member states.
